July 2 DH to make up Bucs rainout

May 31, 2011, 10:18 PM EDT

The Nationals’ May 17 rainout against the Pirates will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader on July 2, the team announced today.

First pitch of the twinbill is scheduled for 3:35 p.m., with the second game beginning 30 minutes after its conclusion.

Only one ticket is needed for admission to both games. Anyone holding a ticket for the originally scheduled, 7:05 p.m. game that day can attend both contests. Anyone holding a ticket for the May 17 rainout can exchange it for any available ticket of equal value for the doubleheader, or any other regular-season game.

    I wonder what value $2 gets me….

Wow, those who accused management of trying to profit off of cancelling the other game was wrong again.

I have had tickets for this game (now games) since early March.

What happens when two tickets are for the same seat? How are the seats worked out??

If you hold a ticket for the regularly scheduled July 2 game which will now be game 2 of the doubleheader, you get that seat for both games. If you hold a rain check ticket for what will now be the first game of the doubleheader, you need to go to the box office and exchange that rain check ticket for a ticket to the doubleheader, which will determine your seat for that game. They say that you can exchange the rain check for a ticket of equal value. Since many people (such as myself) paid $2 for tickets in sections that normally cost much more than that, I'm assuming that the "equal value" thing means that we can get into the same section we would have been in for the $2 game. But I guess we won't know that for sure until we make the exchange.

My general experience has been that it is the seat's value, not what I paid for it (whether I bought it off stub-hub, or used an internet coupon, or whatever) that they use as a basis for exchange. I expect that will hold in this case also…
