Game 53: Mets at Nats

Jun 5, 2012, 7:37 PM EDT

Photo by Mark Zuckerman / NATS INSIDER
Jordan Zimmermann faces the red-hot Mets this evening at Nationals Park.

It's kind of becoming a broken record — and we'll probably be saying this over and over again as the rest of the season plays out — but the Nationals open a big series tonight. Their latest tough division opponent: the Mets, who weren't supposed to contend this season but have surprised and enter this series having won nine of 13 to draw within a half-game of the Nats and Marlins atop the NL East.

New York will send Chris Young to the mound for his first start in 13 months. The 6-foot-10 right-hander had surgery on his shoulder capsule, the same procedure Chien-Ming Wang and Johan Santana needed.

Jordan Zimmermann, meanwhile, starts for the Nationals, looking to bounce back from a less-than-spectacular outing last week in Miami.

Updates to come…

Oops, Mark, you might wanna have another look at the title of this post!

  2. natsfan1a - Jun 5, 2012 at 7:45 PM

    D'oh! :-)

  3. Tcostant - Jun 5, 2012 at 7:45 PM

Good catch Will. Mets at Braves?

  4. MicheleS - Jun 5, 2012 at 7:50 PM

When did we move to Atlanta? ;-)

  5. DL in VA - Jun 5, 2012 at 7:52 PM

The Nats are so good, when the Mets played the Braves, the Nats won.

  6. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 7:54 PM

Kilgore-itis? Hope the boys are ready to go tonight? By the way, if you think Jordan doesn't get any run support — Tim Lincecum has two wins this year – none since April 28th and Cliff Lee has ZERO wins this year. We can take this series but the 3-6 spots just HAVE to produce! GYFNG!!!

  7. SCNatsFan - Jun 5, 2012 at 7:56 PM

Mark must be furiously keeping up with the draft, using cut and paste. He's allowed one error a year, however.

  8. Ghost Of Steve M. - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:06 PM

Thanks for the quick laugh. I know I make my fair share of errors.

  9. pRAA - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:08 PM

3B David Wright 5How many David Wrights do the Mets have, anyway? And what are David Wrights 1 through 4 doing tonight?

  10. sm13 - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:08 PM

Who"d ever have thought there would be a key series involving the Nats ans Mets in June? Truthfully, for the next 3 weeks, every series is going to be a big one for the Nats.

  11. Drew - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:13 PM

With their fifth pick the Nats took a Clemson catcher named Kieboom. The marketing department hopes he's a power hitter.

  12. Pete - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:22 PM

    David Wright? More like…David WRONG.

  13. SonnyG10 - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:28 PM

    Good one, Drew.

  14. upperdeck4 - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:38 PM

Newsflash: Nats contracted, Braves move to Washington.

  15. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:44 PM

Watching mlb ( almost constantly) and they are live from nats park but talking exclusively to the Met's radio guy ( ?). They were just discussing how difficult it's going to be for the Mets to have to go through the Nats (!!!) interesting perspective. They are so relieved to miss Stras and Gio – as well they should be. Rauch not available, Miss Iowa expected. I should have realized that their fans are terrified to come here as the first leg of 9 games on the road – if you can call playing in the Bronx the road, of course. David Wright brings out Giancarlo -like anxiety in me.

  16. natsfan1a - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:54 PM

We kid because we love, Mark. Besides, everyone knows it should read "Mets at Barves." :-)On a game note: Go, Jordan! Go, NATS!!And that's an awesome name, Drew.Drew said… With their fifth pick the Nats took a Clemson catcher named Kieboom. June 05, 2012 4:13 PM

  17. Mark Zuckerman - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:56 PM

Boy, I'm having a bang-up day, huh? Sorry for the typos. I was scrambling to get the game thread posted before running down to the Nats clubhouse to get a whole bunch of pregame updates. Obviously I should've stuck around up here for another minute to proofread things first…

  18. Ron In Reston - Jun 5, 2012 at 8:59 PM

You're forgiven, Mark. Three days with no game out of the last five, and then there's that draft thingy they throw at you, you can be excused for not knowing which end is up….I sure as heck don't :)

  19. Section 222 - Jun 5, 2012 at 9:03 PM

Why proofread when the sharp eyes here will let you know what you missed within minutes?

  20. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 5, 2012 at 9:42 PM

Way things have been in the catcher from Kieboom might be up before the season is over. Will Charley start saying Kie boom another curly W in the books?

  21. Steady Eddie - Jun 5, 2012 at 9:45 PM

Mark, anything that's no big deal and worth a little chuckle is fine among friends…on the LOL front, when you have a moment, you might also want to fix the URL, which still reads "game-53-mets-at-braves".What we all really hope is that the Mets have been scouting the wrong team and this completely throws off their game plan — "Aren't they pitching Brian Beachy tonight?"

  22. Sunshine_Bobby_Carpenter_Is_Too_Pessimistic_For_Me - Jun 5, 2012 at 10:07 PM

Tough crowd you've got here, Mark.

  23. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 5, 2012 at 10:14 PM

I just assumed eck was involved in all this. I am not one to complain about typos (with my dislexia I have more than my share, so I don't get on anyone for that.

  24. natsfan1a - Jun 5, 2012 at 10:18 PM

No worries, Mark. We know there's a lot going on today. Heck, you so rarely have any typos, despite your prodigious output, that I guess we all got excited about sharpening our virtual red pencils. :-)

  25. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 10:26 PM

You still have many, many fewer errors than Starlin Castro, Mark. Mitch Williams giving Jordan tons of love on mlb. Even they are startled by his stats vs wins vs run support. sheesh. Go Nats!!!!!!! I hear the Mets bullpen is a bit shaky and this is the pitchers first start. Maybe knock him out nice and early? Maybe not make him look like Cy Young?

  26. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:10 PM

Jordan Zimmermann has had ownage on David Wright when they have faced each other.

  27. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:13 PM

Holding him to a single and stranding him is a success in my book.

  28. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:17 PM

JZim throwing 94 and Chris Young throwing 84 on their fastballs.

  29. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:18 PM

Another groundout for Zim. Luckily no doubleplay.

  30. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:20 PM

Recent trends continues — the opposing hitters are tougher outs, use up more of our starters' pitches. Our hitters come up and get out on just a few pitches. I would love to see our hitters give the opposing pitcher a harder time instead of making it easy on him. Zim just looks so bad – obviously it's not a rest issue because they have had games off.

  31. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:25 PM

baseballswami, the Nats are swinging early in the counts. 3 of the 7 Mets swung at the 1st pitch.

  32. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:27 PM

Case and point. 1 pitch, 1 out for LaRoche. 1 pitch and 1 out for Morse. Shaking my head. This pitcher is making his 1st start. WORK HIM. This is not professional hitting.

  33. SFNats - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:33 PM

Agree, Gonat. This is Young's first start back in over a year of being hurt. Make him work and run up the pitch count.

  34. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:37 PM

WOULD IT KILL YOU TO TAKE A PITCH????? Desi finally did – but why are they making this slow-thrower in his debut look like Nolan Ryan???

  35. SFNats - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:39 PM

Hopefully, they're just getting the timing of his Livo-esque fastball so they can crush it the second time around.

  36. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:42 PM

Flores gets the hitters pitch in his hot zone and pops it up to 1st base. Come on boys!

  37. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:44 PM

Leave it to the pitcher to get a hit. LOL

  38. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:46 PM

And Lombardozzi doesn't get the job done. What does it take?

  39. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:47 PM

Does Young pitch around Bryce to get to Zim? Last time that happened in this exact situation, Zim hit a 2 run double

  40. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:48 PM

Look who gets it done. BRYCE HARPER. Youngest kid on the field.

  41. TheNatsMovement - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:55 PM

We are lacking in the elite offense category. We should have gotten 2 or 3 runs in that inning, we had him shook. Last year we couldnt get the one run, this year we can get the one run, but we need to scoop up 3 in an opportunity like that presents itself.

  42. baseballswami - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:55 PM

Who got that done? Espi – young, Jordan – pitcher, and Harper – rookie. Uh, hello? Veterans? Are you there? Poor Jordan – just taking matters into his own hands again. Can't blame him.

  43. TheNatsMovement - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:56 PM

Especially when J Zimm is dealing the cheese tonight.

  44. Gonat - Jun 5, 2012 at 11:59 PM

Have any of you watching on MASN ever read the LUNA disclaimer on the bottom of the $50 per room flooring deal? Read it. Its an eye opener what you have to pay for on top of the $50. One day maybe Angelos can find some better advertisers because these LUNA commercials are bad.

  54. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:08 AM

2 bunts single for Espi – hey, if it works awesome. But a question – do you think a hitting instructor can really change him from striking out as much as he does? I just don't know if a player can change missing so many pitches – I wonder if this is who he is. Go Nats and keep it up Jordan.

  55. baseballswami - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:10 AM

As much as this pains me — Go Braves and Go Dodgers! Yes, that was very painful. I think I may find myself in this situation all too often this season.

  58. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:14 AM

Flores 1st pitch swinging on a ball out of the strike zone. A harmless grounder.PLEASE GO UP TO THE PLATE WITH A PLAN!

  59. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:15 AM

JZim see 4 pitches and doubles. How sad is this team that the pitchers are raking and we have guys that start everyday and put him horrible at-bats.

  60. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:18 AM

Lombo swings at a ball 3 that is about 6 inches above the strike zone. Glad he came back and got that walk.

  61. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:19 AM

I see JWerth in the dugout and very involved in talking to his teammates.

  62. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:22 AM

Ryan Zimmerman comes through! RBI w/ RISP and a nice error!

  63. Joe Seamhead - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:23 AM

Can Carp keep his mouth shut? Yapping about solo HRs.

  70. peric - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:32 AM

I guess we can now see why, just maybe, Bo Porter was waving hustling Bryce Harper to stretch it to 3rd. So, that someone would uncork a wild throw. Just like happened tonight. Right Natsjack? Guess we learn something new everyday.

  71. Exposremains - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:34 AM

It seems like JZim always hits a wall right about this far into the game.

  72. Drew - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:34 AM

Is this heaven? No, it's Miss Iowa.

  73. NatsJack in Florida - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:36 AM

So why does Jordan exhibit the "Detwiler" syndrome lately?

  74. NatsNut - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:39 AM

it always cracks me up when our bullpen guys don't move a muscle when the other guys' HR goes in there.

  75. peric - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:43 AM

Looks like Carp forgot he's in DC not New York with the momentum shift. Must be watching the Venus transition and not paying attention.

NatsJack in Florida said… So why does Jordan exhibit the "Detwiler" syndrome lately? June 05, 2012 8:36 PM __________________________If that was the case he would be in trouble in the 4th. JZim's slider disappears after 70 pitches. The rest of the pitches looked good. This is a must Win so glad they pulled him with 3 straight lefties batting.

  78. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:52 AM

Wow, Flores gives a stare back at Bautista after 2 very inside pitches.

  79. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:53 AM

Ankiel can't even bunt. Just shaking my head.

  80. peric - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:56 AM

They started too fast … ALL oF THEM. They were all into who was going to win the CY Young in April … and now they're tired … and its only June. I really didn't think Detwiler was pitching all that badly. I'm sure I'll see all sorts of screaming and yelling, surely the kind Michelle hates, when Wang implodes. He isn't as good as Detwiler right now. In fact I think Gorzelanny is better. I don't think Wang will be able to go 6 innings consistently every five starts.IN any case we had four bad starts by a guy who just needs his worse stuff to throw a 1 hitter: Strasburg. Gio just took a short 4 inning or so start. Uhmm who's left? I guess we remember EJax imploding … and pitching acomplete game. The need to find a rhythm as they start thinking about the long haul. The problem is only Gio, EJax, and now Wang have had that experience. I'd much rather see Detwiler getting this experience over Wang but I guess bringing Wang back was Davey's idea so he has to put his money where his mouth is even if its the wrong move.

  81. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:57 AM

I fear we have seen the best Ankiel has to offer and as his ABs get fewer and fewer his numbers will continue to drop

  82. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 12:58 AM

Anibel Sanchez night ends with 7 earned runs!

  83. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:04 AM

Peric, if the team didn't have other choices, Detwiler would be pitching but he is a guy who barely can go 4 innings. That's not a starter, that's a long reliever.

  84. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:05 AM

Kardiac Kids got the hearts pumping again.

  85. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:08 AM

  86. Exposremains - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:12 AM

Its amazing to me that the Mets are great offensively with a bunch no name hitters(except wright) and the Nats are supposed to have great offensive player and yet they are struggling.

  87. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:13 AM

Stammen pitched "his" guy Hairston like Giancarlo Stanton and didn't put him away.

We better come back and win this, as this become a theme the last week and 2 days. Again leading going into the middle to late innings. The pitching staff just has to match the other team from then on as we are leading, and the previous 4 losses they didn't, and if we lose this it will 5 straight game that this would happen. the one win would be when the pitchers Satruday pitched well enough to ahve 2 runs stand. We can still win this, but I simply don't understand this real bad habit the pitchers have developed. Up 3 this time before they decided to take the night off.

  91. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:25 AM

Another JZim "W" in the trashcan and like Manassas Nats' Fan says, Nats better come back and win this one.

  96. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:32 AM

Well the RISP is now 3 for 9 thanks to Harper, RZim and Desi who each have a hit (Of course each of them also have an out in the same situation).

  97. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:34 AM

Dan Uggla 2nd HR tonight. This one clangs high off the #Marlins OF sculpture. #Braves lead 9-0.

  98. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:35 AM

Espi tried to gouble, just hung it in the air too high.I was in the car when Torres got his double, Charley Schlows made it sound like ANkiel was out of position. haven't seen replay since I got home, was he to far toward leftcenter like he said. What was the deal with Stammen and the nibbling with Hairston, Scholes siad he seemed to not want to pitch him a strike. (since he was alked and the 4th run, I was wondering).

  99. Exposremains - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:37 AM

  103. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:43 AM

I wonder if Ankiel hits a Walk Off HR if he becomes a favorite on here again. He usually does after a big throw or hit.

  104. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:45 AM

OMG I also sense Henry having to come in

  105. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:46 AM

Swinging strike 1 in the dirt on 1st pitch to Ankiel. Actually takes 2nd and 3rd pitches for a ball. If Rick wouldn't swing he would be ahead 3-0 now. Swings and fouls a ball left up that could have been the Walk-Off. Of course strikes out on 3-2

  106. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:47 AM

I don't think we have to worry about Ankiel becoming a favourite unfortunately. He wanted to be a starter and you wonder how much riding the pine will effect him.

  107. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:47 AM

Bernadina with another great pinch-hit. Can Bryce get on to give it to Mr. Walk-Off?

  111. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:53 AM

I don't know you don't send Bernadina and hope for the error or at the minimum have Harper leading off next inning. Give Harper the chance to drive him in.

  119. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 1:59 AM

This is all on Davey. He allowed HRdo to pitch with a man on third. What on earth is he thinking? He is a wild pitch machine. I think JROD days are just about over we can't take anymmore of this nonsense from him.

Davey Johnson gives another game away.

  124. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:01 AM

We have seen this story 4 times now, and to me stupidity is when you expect something different. Man on third he can't pitch.

  125. Cameron - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:01 AM

I should be exicted that our 3-4-5 hitters are up, but I'm not at all.

  126. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:02 AM

Even when Henry pitches a decent inning, things get fouled up when he throws another wild pitch. Wrong pitch in that situation but Wright should have been walked. On Davey.

  127. Nats212 - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:02 AM

Henry was not that bad! Single was on morse, and WP in Flores, besides that he was solid, still they should have walked wirght!

  128. rogieshan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:03 AM

"Nats about to face bullpen decisions."Decision made.

  129. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:04 AM

    Nats need baserunners here.

  130. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:04 AM

I have kept my mouth shut all game… Davey, you and Hrod can't SUCK ENOUGH!

  131. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:05 AM

    Cameron.. AGREED R Zim SUCKS!!!!

  132. NatsNut - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:05 AM

    c'mon boys, keep fighting here.

  133. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:06 AM

Hope Terry Collins gets burned by LaRoche here.

  134. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:07 AM

I bet Nats do not get 81 wins this year

  135. hiramhover - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:07 AM

Henry was not that bad!So true! I think back to the nights HRod had 3 or more WPs + BBs in the same night, and this was pretty unremarkable stuff.

  136. Nats212 - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:09 AM

Its amazing how people tend to forget we still a banged up first place team…

  137. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:12 AM

I will take a Wild Pitch here.

  138. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:13 AM

banged up first place team has NOTHING ti do with Hrod and Davey's stupidity to put him in!!!

  139. Cameron - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:15 AM

Espinossa swings at 3 balls. Nice.

  140. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:16 AM

Danny goes back to suck-it-tude on 3 straight swing and misses.

  141. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:16 AM

    Come on JFLO!!!!

  142. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:17 AM

    Espinoza SUCKS,

  143. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:18 AM

Espi looks like a sissy and I hope this is his last year

  144. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:18 AM

    Need a WILD PITCH HERE

  145. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:19 AM

    Rick CROWD THE PLATE!!!!

  146. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:20 AM

    Rick SUCKS!!!!!

  147. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:20 AM

So help me God if Ankiel swings on 3-0…

  148. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:20 AM

That a-way, Rick, swing at the walk-off ball 4. Jesus.

  149. phil dunton - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:21 AM

Ankiel is as pathetic as Espinosa.

  150. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:21 AM

Why did Rick give him an open lane to pour in Strike 1? Crowd the plate, do something. Geeez

  151. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:22 AM

I hate this lineup. I truly do.

  152. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:22 AM

When DeRosa is coming back is taking Ankiel's spot. He K's too much, From 309 to a K. the second strike might have been a ball and was worth taking. Not sure what poccessed Davey to allow him to swing.

  153. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:22 AM

Rick Ankiel's pitching gave him a nervous breakdown. Rick Ankiel's hitting will give ME a nervous breakdown.

  154. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:23 AM

I am so sick of these pathetic wimpy hitters players on this team. Ankiel and Espi are all part of a culture of losing.Eckstein you area joke and the worst excuse of a coach i have ever seen!!!

  155. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:23 AM

Gonat…. this what eckstein teaches… He SUCKS!!!

  156. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:24 AM

I don't know what is going on with MLB Gameday right now, but HRod is apparently 6-2 on Murphy…

  157. Exposremains - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:24 AM

I wonder how many Ks combined Espinosa and Ankiel have in big spots. 3 errors and a walk in one inning and you score one run.

  158. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:24 AM

WHo is working with these two strike out kings to cut the crap out. They are not home run hitters why are striking out so much. Who is allowing it?

  159. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:24 AM

3-0 count, bases loaded at home and this pussy strikeouts!

  160. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:24 AM

Sorry to keep harping on it but Espinosa is not a major league hitter unless we want a 220 hitter who cannot make reliable contact. I'm amazed he swings and misses as often as he does.Ankiel, well, its what you have come to expect. He should have bunted to SS who was trying to give us the game.

  161. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:25 AM

When you see Espi and Ankiel coming up, how many of us were hoping Strasburg would Pinch Hit?

  162. Nats212 - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:27 AM

Could corey brown do worst than that? brown over ankiel any given day

  163. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:28 AM

Espinoza is not prime time, he is a wimp!!!!I don't think I want to listen to Davey's voice after this one, he needs to fore Eckstein and he needs to bench some of the garbage in this line up

  164. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:29 AM

Gonat, I'm really rooting for Danny but after his quick start he looks so overmatched. I don't know what Lombo has to do to get the regular nod and see if Espi can get some consistency getting regular ABs at AAA.

  165. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:30 AM

exactly, what does Lombo have to do?????

  166. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:31 AM

I am done with Danny and Hrod and soon i may be done with Davey

  167. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:31 AM

Det gets the first two guys out then starts pitching balls. What on earth is that about.

  168. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:31 AM

SCNatsFan, Danny is swinging better in the low leverage situations and same with Ankiel. Just don't get it.

  169. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:32 AM

    come on Ross

  170. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:33 AM

Several of us have said it, Lombo to 2nd and Danny to the bench. Bring back Corey Brown to CF, Bryce to RF and Morse back to LF

  171. Exposremains - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:33 AM

Detwiler doing in one inning what he usually does over a game.

  172. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:33 AM

    quit nibbling

  173. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:35 AM

Thank the Lord! Detwiler makes it interesting and gets it done!!!

  174. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:36 AM

you think we can get 1 freakin run?

  175. Nats212 - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:36 AM

Mick you realy think we would be better without davey? I mean look the nats before him and after him..

  176. Manassas Nats' Fan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:37 AM

Now win it dog gone it.

  177. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:37 AM

    is laroche a joke too

  178. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:37 AM

I don't think the bench does anything for Danny; get him somewhere to get lots of ABs. Get himsome confidence.

  179. SCNatsFan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:38 AM

Here here Manassas. Now that Tosh.0 is over I'm ready to go to bed.

  180. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:38 AM

Nats212.. I have not given up on him yet, I said I close

  181. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:40 AM

Heart of the Order for the Nats needs to come through right here!!!!

  182. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:41 AM

Even though the ump called a strike, there wasn't 1 strike thrown to Bryce.

  183. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:41 AM

    UGHHHH Bad Harp is back.

  184. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:43 AM

here comes a DP from the King of the DP's Zim

  185. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:44 AM

Someone move Zim 2 inches closer to the plate.

  186. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:45 AM

Heart of the order has NO HEART

  187. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:45 AM

Time for LaRoche to do what he did in Chicago

  188. mick - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:46 AM

Zim is so over rated, LaRoche just sucks

  189. phil dunton - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:48 AM

    nats offense is pathetic.

  190. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:48 AM

I didn't mean Game 1 in Chicago, was hoping for Game 2. I should have been more specific.

  191. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:48 AM

Anyone still happy we didn't get Prince?

  192. Will - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:49 AM

I believe Wright is due up next inning, so that was our chance.

  193. Nats212 - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:49 AM

How can a player cool down so fast? i mean laroche was our early beast and now he looks ankiel!

  194. Gonat - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:49 AM

Ramirez throws 4 straight balls to Nady for a walk. Davey has to tell Young Bryce, be very patient.

  195. Cameron - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:50 AM

Larouche is back to his normal self.

  196. phil dunton - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:51 AM

It seems like David Wright bats every inning. I have a bad feeling about his next at bat.

  197. Exposremains - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:51 AM

umpire wants to play for a while. What happened to Laroche? I think he got the Nats disease. Every time a Nats player is doing good and people start talking about him, he completely loses it and start sucking.

  198. Cameron - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:52 AM

    Great game Natinals, great game!

  199. rogieshan - Jun 6, 2012 at 2:52 AM

Johnson manages the offense like he's in the American League. Is LaRoche fatigued or is he playing hurt? Why do we always get beat by a Hairston?
