Game 130: Cardinals at Nats

Aug 30, 2012, 7:41 PM EDT

Photo by Mark Zuckerman / NATS INSIDER
The Nats open an 11-game homestand tonight against the Cardinals.

Amazing what a difference the outcome of one game can make. Had the Nationals lost last night in Miami, they'd return home today at tense bunch, their collars feeling a little bit tighter than usual thanks to a six-game losing streak. Instead, by beating the Marlins 8-4, they're a loose, upbeat group right now, having just joked around while taking the official 2012 team photo (you can sort of make it out above).

So begins an 11-game homestand, the longest of the season, with the defending World Series champion Cardinals in town the next four days. St. Louis will be up against a familiar foe tonight in Edwin Jackson (a member of that World Series club).

Left-hander Jaime Garcia gets the nod for the Cards, facing a Nats lineup that broke out of its slump in a big way last night. Plenty of updates to come, so please check back…

Kilgore's got a great article on the guy I first brought up on this site late last September when I saw him in Fall Instructs, Christian Garcia. If I knew how to link, I would but I got it off his tweet. As I said last September, this guy is real good.

  9. natsfan1a - Aug 30, 2012 at 8:45 PM

    Here you go, NatsJack.

  10. NatsJack in Florida - Aug 30, 2012 at 8:51 PM

Thanks 1a, I knew either you or Michele would come through.

MLB Network getting ready to do piece on Strasburg purportedly 2 to 3 more starts before StrasNoMas

  12. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 8:54 PM

Funny, the MLB Network just showed Mark's tweet:Davey spoke to Strasburg on team plane last night, told pitcher he'll make "probably 2 or 3 more" starts before shutdown.

  13. Old Wino - Aug 30, 2012 at 8:57 PM

Let's keep our helmets on tonight. ;)Go Nats!

  14. NatsLady - Aug 30, 2012 at 9:18 PM

I know we already did this topic to death but here is the CloseCalls on Harper's ejection (this is the site that tracks ejections). You can see from the comments that opinions were very divided. Interesting that not only is this Harper's first ejection, it's the Nationals first ejection of 2012. Ejection of Harperhttp://www.closecallsports.com/2012/08/ejection-143-cb-bucknor-2.html

  15. NatsNut - Aug 30, 2012 at 9:33 PM

ok boys. no more losing streaks. GYFNG!

  16. Another_Sam - Aug 30, 2012 at 9:42 PM

Michele, did I read correctly a few threads ago: you're on pace to attend about half of the home games this year? Can that be right? That's a stunning performance. Amazing consistentcy.

  17. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 30, 2012 at 9:54 PM

Faraz, that's the phonetic spelling of "GYFNG!"

  18. NatsFanJim - Aug 30, 2012 at 9:59 PM

This is gonna be a Whopper of a series. This could be the best baseball we have seen all year — and that's saying something.

Ya know, Doc, first you cry "uncle," but now you you've got me feeling like Michael Corleone–like you're trying to pull me back in.

  22. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 30, 2012 at 10:53 PM

Time to get back to my formula. Win every series.

  23. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:01 PM

These are some games I really wish I could attend; I can recall Cards-Nats match-ups in the not-too-distant past that were quite exciting, even when the Nats weren't exactly playing great baseball (an extra-inning Nats win over the Cardinals in 2010 was the last game I made it to in DC). And I hope the atmosphere at the park matches the importance of the series. But at least I'll be able to watch this one live (on MLB.tv); I've been having to watch replays the past six or seven games (albeit without knowing the results). This should be fun. GYFNG!

  24. peric - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:09 PM

    I see empty seats.

  25. NatsLady - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:10 PM

Yes, Carp said it was a "fashionably" late-arriving crowd and not a "good" crowd. All I can say is that I have a lot of people gone for the last weekend before schools starts in Virginia.

  26. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:14 PM

Nice to see by EJax. Great movement!

  27. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:15 PM

Should be big crowds this weekend. I will be there on Sunday.

  28. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:16 PM

Kind of surprised Bryce is in there. Hope he is seeing the ball well. Garcia can be a soft tosser.

  29. Swift Eagle - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:20 PM

    Early Thunder from Harper…BOOM!!!

  30. -Dan- - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:20 PM

I guess Bryce is hot, don't you think so?

  31. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:20 PM

Keep the pressure on; don't let up.

  32. NatsLady - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:20 PM

Who should sit against lefties? Not!

  35. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:21 PM

    Swift, Legion of BAMH

  36. Swift Eagle - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:22 PM

Haha Gonat…a little reverse whammy there…Let me try…I'm surprised Morse is in there, hope he is seeing the ball well…

  37. hiramhover - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:22 PM

    What – no helmet spike?!

  38. Swift Eagle - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:23 PM

Give Werth some credit too, worked a walk, got Garcia in the stretch early…

  39. Ghost Of Steve M. - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:25 PM

Gonat, Do you remember when Bryce was hot after his callup he hit lefties better. It's a matter of seeing the ball well.

  40. -Dan- - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:26 PM

This is the third time this year we've gotten a 2 run lead in the first thanks to a Harper homer, right?

  41. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:26 PM

SteveM, great point.Swift, big time credit to Werth doing what leadoff guys are supposed to do.

  42. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:29 PM

-Dan-, no 3 HRs in the 1st inning but on June 3rd was a solo jack!

  43. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:31 PM

    Bryce's HRs by inning:1st 3 2nd 03rd 2 4th 2 5th 46th 07th 1 8th 2 9th 1

  44. Swift Eagle - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:31 PM

Molina's swing looked awful, still looks hurt

  45. -Dan- - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:32 PM

Gonat, yeah, it came after Lombo's leadoff homer against the Braves, thanks for the help, i had forgotten. The other if i remember well was in Flushing against the Mets.

  46. Swift Eagle - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:38 PM

Lol, Flores to Edwin: "Strikeouts are fascist, throw some ground balls, more Democratic"

  47. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:39 PM

    Harps 5th HR vs LHP

  48. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:40 PM

-Dan- I just have been going through box scores, yes, 2 run 1st inning jack against Chris Young of the Mets

  49. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:44 PM

Swift, um, McCatty to EJax, "Strikeouts are bulls–t. Get some quick outs to your fielders".

  50. Swift Eagle - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:48 PM

Haha, if there's ever a pitching coach movie, I hope it's based on McCatty aka "quote machine"…The reporters should interview every day, he's gold Jerry, gold…

  51. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:50 PM

Swift, he believes what he says and says what he believes.Like it or not, he and Rizzo want hard throwers who can get K's when they really need them to strand baserunners.

  52. Gonat - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:53 PM

LaRoche doesn't have the reflexes any more like he used to. Looked like Zim last night.

  53. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 30, 2012 at 11:56 PM

    7 K through 3

  57. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:01 AM

I think Harper is seeing the ball well tonight.(Understatement of the year?)

  58. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:02 AM

    Almost

  59. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:03 AM

I'm on board 100% with the pitching philosophy too, hard throwers get wins in October…

  60. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:04 AM

McCatty to EJax, "Strikeouts are bulls–t. Get some quick outs to your fielders". I don't think it's that simple. Sometimes guys just can't get a bat on your stuff.Davey mentioned that regarding Dwight Gooden. They wanted him to get less K's, and Davey said, "what? you want me to change how he pitches?"(Yes, Gooden had problems later, but it was because of too many innings too young, and too much partying)

  61. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:06 AM

Wonk, you are right. Its philosophy.

  62. NatsNut - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:07 AM

Maybe you guys talked about this already, but all the infield grounders looks like it might be time for another cortisone shot.

  63. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:07 AM

LaRoche swings at ball 3 to help Garcia

  64. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:08 AM

It's also about executing pitches…certainly appears the book on the Nats lineup is to go off speed and breaking balls, but if they're not quality pitches, the Nats will kill fastballs when ahead in the count….

  65. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:09 AM

Harper induced hustle by Ryan for a base hit. Great throw, greater hustle by Zimm. Morse walks on four pitches. ALR? We'll take the sac fly!

  66. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:10 AM

Somebody Must have missed the game last night, Zimmerman smoked the ball to right 3 times last night, he's fine…

  67. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:11 AM

Also, the Nats are still 15-3 when Werth, Zimmerman, and Morse are in the starting line-up (not including the game when Morse was HBP and left in the 1st inning)

  68. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:12 AM

    Hold them again ejax

  69. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:13 AM

Sorry, 1 run in that situation let Garcia off the hook. Sure, LaR got that Sac Fly but he swings at ball 3 and falls in a 2-1 count then 2-2 and lost count leverage.

  70. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:13 AM

Well, again you gotta give Werth a lot of credit for his ability to get on base leading off.Too bad to only get one run that inning though.

  71. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:17 AM

Molina can't swing without pain. Why goof around with balls

  72. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:17 AM

Gonat, I'm not saying it was a great AB by ALR but With one out I'll take the sac fly, rather then say a ground ball double play. Would've liked Desi to come through with guys on the corners.

  73. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:19 AM

Wow, now we're not giving the "Neighborhood play" Are they going to start calling that too!!

  74. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:19 AM

too much to allow there I suppose on the DP

  75. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:19 AM

He better make that call EVERY time now…I'm guessing he won't…

  76. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:20 AM

    just need an out

  77. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:20 AM

Danny has to get the lead runner.

  78. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:21 AM

make your pitch with the pitcher coming up

  79. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:21 AM

I think the ump thought he had to come off the base to take the throw.

  80. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:21 AM

I'm not blaming Danny there, that call is NEVER made….Unless the base runner is named Jeter…

  81. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:23 AM

This comment has been removed by the author.

  82. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:24 AM

Swift, you don't think the ump thought Zim's throw pulled him off?Now you have to call that consistently.

  83. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:24 AM

I had no problem with the ump on that call. Danny was way off the bag. No problemo! EJax looks pretty darn good!

  84. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:24 AM

Yeah, but it was egregious, he was all the way off the bag and stradling nothing but dirt, not "on his way" off the bag, where one leg is kinda over it. Still, it's kind of in keeping with this whole crew to get noticed.

  85. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:25 AM

Wonk, it was Espi, not Desi

  86. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:27 AM

Thanks, Gonat. Let me rephrase:I disagree. The "neighborhood" has boundaries. On replay, he was pretty far off the bag — at least 3 feet. Ump made a good call, imho. Espi came off _way_ too soon for that to be called out.

  87. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:27 AM

Now the Nats go on 7 pitches in this inning. Just not smart the last 5 batters

  88. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:29 AM

Danny still leads NL in K

  89. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:32 AM

We have umps who have trouble with Safe/Out, Fair/Foul, and Ball/Strike….How about they get those right a little more often before enforcing the "look at me" calls like the neighborhood play and ejections for thrown equipment…Get the important stuff right first blue…

  90. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:32 AM

So, following up on my previous post, since exposure to second-hand negativity and complaining destroys brain cells and makes one stupid(er), I wonder, does exposure to stupidity make people complain more?

  91. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:33 AM

Flores is handling those balls in the dirt really well

  92. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:34 AM

Whoa Sofa, are you saying the Legion of Doom is making me dumber? That ain't not good…

  93. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:34 AM

Too many balls 19 batters 33 balls

  94. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:34 AM

Is that former mayor Anthony Williams in the second row behind home, in the red curly-W cap?

  95. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:35 AM

Man, that's not like Beltran to be that aggressive, pretty cool ending to that inning.

  96. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:35 AM

Top of the order coming up; keep the pressure on; don't let up.

  97. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:36 AM

Huge K of the leadoff batter. Didn't think he would throw the slider twice in a row!Got Beltran out of the way for the 6th inning.

  98. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:37 AM

    Swift, not me. Scientists.

  99. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:39 AM

Yep, Werth sux. He has no power. His ISO sux. His SLG sux.

  100. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:39 AM

    Go werth

  101. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:39 AM

dazed and confused for Werth? ought to be Whole Lotta Love after that bomb.

  102. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:39 AM

    The Legion of BOOM!!!!

  103. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:39 AM

I think somebody is very wrong about Werth not having any power anymore.

  104. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:39 AM

Anything can happen of course, but so far the NL teams outside the East just have not looked all that great to me…I mean yes Cin and St Louis have a lot of wins, but they play a lot of games v Hou, CHC, and Mil…and they didn't play the AL East in inter-league either…Nats won 5 of 6 v SF, and we'll see with the new-look Dodgers…

  105. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:40 AM

    BOOM goes the Lead-Off Man

  106. MicheleS - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:40 AM

That was a blast by Werth. About 25k here tonight.

  107. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:41 AM

Garcia's pitches all look like they're in the 80s, not a whole lot of difference in speed if he's not hitting his spots or particularly deceptive.

  108. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:47 AM

Espi really in a funk again. 5 for his last 37.

  109. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:48 AM

Hoping that gives him some reverse un-funk.

  110. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:50 AM

EJax looked amped up tonight, really driving on the front leg, his stuff is moving like crazy!

    EJ is TCB

  113. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:52 AM

LOL at all the Zeppelin references. "We're gonna groove" is apt tonight – for our guys easy playing and Garcia's pitches.

    Good for Dan

    "Bring it on Home" please.

  119. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:57 AM

Flores hitting the 5 1/2 hole.

  120. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:57 AM

Going for the jugular would be seding up Tyler here. But Edwin could hack something

  121. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:58 AM

Ghost/Swift, I thought I would give it a try! Its worked twice tonight.

  122. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 12:58 AM

    Unlucky

Could have been worse, Ive seen triple plays on balls like that

  127. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:00 AM

Lucky he didn't catch it as Desi would have been doubled off 3rd. Unlucky as it would have gone into CF if he doesn't get a glove on it.

I believe Eugene is not underestimating the Card's offense.

  134. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:06 AM

Love Bryce going with the pitch!

  136. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:07 AM

    "Hats Off to Harper"

  137. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:07 AM

    Ooh, coke owed

  138. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:08 AM

The Nats have more than Four Sticks tonight.

  139. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:09 AM

And Matheny may be thinking this is When The Levee Breaks…

  140. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:09 AM

Ugly RBI? I don't think so.

  141. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:11 AM

No, no panic. Just respectful of the Cardinals' offense (and their whole franchise). So, as I said, keep the pressure on.

  142. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:14 AM

Just checked, no Walters for us to Walk. (This is the best use some of these titles may have ever had. )

  143. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:14 AM

Very true, Cards are champs for a reason…but it feels a little like a vacation to be out of the NL East…I mean Jimmy Rollins actually plays hard against the Nats! Cliff Lee wins games against the Nats! Carlos Lee steals bases against the Nats!…I'm glad to see some other teams..Lol

  144. Joe Seamhead - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:15 AM

I agree, Eugene. Step on 'em and grind it inRyan, that wasn't a strike. Oh, we'll, we picked up two more. I loved Bryce's hit, and I'll take Werth's RBI groundout. 6-0 is a good thing.

  145. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:16 AM

Gonat said… Yep, Werth sux. He has no power. His ISO sux. His SLG sux.Clearly a bench player, right?

  146. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:17 AM

Joe and Eugene, I think you are saying the Cards should be "Trampled Underfoot"?

  147. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:18 AM

Next time a Nat gets on:"Bring it on Home"The last week for the Nats: Good Times Bad Times

  149. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:20 AM

OK, Werth IS playing well. No need to rub it in to those opposing opinions.

  150. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:20 AM

I know he used to work in St. L, but man Carp sure knows a lot about the Cardinals! I'm waiting for him to tell me their food allergies when they come up to bat…

  151. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:21 AM

Dang, ehay, you beat me to "Trampled."I'm gonna crawl over to the coke machine…

  152. William O. Douglas Loeffler - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:21 AM

All you people who dis Bryce….

  153. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:21 AM

Yeesh . . . Cards have 0 runs and just 13 hits over the last three games (including this one thus far).As I wrote yesterday, I'm hoping that it's the start of a week-long batting slump for the team.

  154. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:22 AM

Or perhaps you are commenting on Werth's play as What Is, and Peric is saying it is What Should Never Be?Best to find common ground, no matter how small the acreage.

  155. A DC Wonk - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:23 AM

ehay2k said… OK, Werth IS playing well. No need to rub it in to those opposing opinions.True . . . but the thing is: Werth has played well all season, before and after the injury. Yes, his power was down, but he has been the most consistent "get on base" machine on the team all season long.

  156. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:23 AM

Another SportsCenter moment for Bryce…and no equipment was damaged during the play…

  157. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:24 AM

Best to find common ground, no matter how small the acreage. It's the battle of evermore…

  158. Ghost Of Steve M. - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:24 AM

For those of us who saw Paul Blair play CF, I think Bryce is now playing a few steps too shallow. Good play on that one though.

  159. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:25 AM

You're right Wonk, I was a Werth-basher for a long time, have to give him his due…He's had consistent ABs all year…MMMMM Crow

  160. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:26 AM

Sofa, I will buy you a beer for that one!

  161. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:28 AM

  162. William O. Douglas Loeffler - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:31 AM

Paul Blair. I loved those O's teams.

  164. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:33 AM

    I'll just ramble on, V8

  165. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:33 AM

    hopefully there's no Communication Breakdown

  166. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:33 AM

Cards pitching coach must be " Sick Again"

  167. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:35 AM

BABIP in the 5 1/2 hole

  168. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:35 AM

Ground Ball with eyes…Slump Officially Over…

  169. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:35 AM

How Many More Times can they score?

  170. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:36 AM

Flores hitting the 5.5 hole well tonight

  171. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:36 AM

I kid you not: When my daughter was 8 or 9 she had a pet lizard named Jesus Flores.

"Stupid Pitcher"Oh wait, not a Zeppelin song.

  174. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:38 AM

Manassas, you owe me a Pepsi!

  175. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:39 AM

Eugene…did the lizard ever throw anyone out?

  176. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:39 AM

3 crooked number innings tonight so far!

  177. Faraz Shaikh - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:39 AM

what? only eight runs scored so far. I am disappointed.

  178. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:40 AM

Gonat, I was tempted to look at the Robert Plant discography for any song with BABIP (unlikely} or 5 1/2 hole (possible).

  179. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:41 AM

The 5-1/2 Hole would be a good name for a band, better name for a bar …

  180. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:42 AM

Swift River @ 9:39: No, but he beat her turtle (named Ryan Zimmerman) in a series of races that were staged as part of science fair experiment. And I'm not making this up, I promise.

  181. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:42 AM

Swift, the lizard may have insured his throwing leg in a freak "falling lid-weight" accident.

  182. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:43 AM

    *injured. Dang auto correct.

  183. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:44 AM

Well Eugene, w/out a cortisone shot, I'm sure the turtle would have no chance…

  184. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:44 AM

the five and a half hole is about where I quit playing golf and find the nineteenth.

  185. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:44 AM

108 pitches and counting. Why push it.

  186. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:45 AM

    Zimmerman, really?

  187. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:45 AM

ok, last one – that Zim throw was Over The Hills And Far Away

  188. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:46 AM

Ejax is tired, McCatty just gave him a "Your time Is Gonna Come" look.

  189. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:46 AM

Man, that Zimmerman Throwing thing is Weird!

  190. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:47 AM

That throw was Goin To California

  191. Eugene in Oregon - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:47 AM

blovy8,Actually I think it took a 'Misty Mountain Hop' into the stands…

  192. blovy8 - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:47 AM

I could see Zimmerman as a turtle, but he'd be pissed thinking it was a Terrapin, being a former Cavalier, that would not do.

  193. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:47 AM

  194. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:47 AM

No, it was definitely headed East.

  195. Manassas Nats' Fan - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:48 AM

Why have EJax.have a bad inning?

  196. ehay2k - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:48 AM

East, as in toward The Ocean.

  197. Sec.3, My Sofa - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:48 AM

So shut it down here, let that be unearned, at least.

  198. Gonat - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:49 AM

Ryan Zimmerman is going to get roasted on Intentional Talk with a "Got Heeeem"

  199. Swift Eagle - Aug 31, 2012 at 1:49 AM

Imagine how great it's going to be when Stras and Jordan are 28 and nobody will care about their pitch/inning counts…
