Jayson Werth was held out of the lineup on Wednesday due to tightness in his right hamstring, an ailment that has kept him out since he left in the fifth inning against the Braves on May 2. It is the fifth consecutive game Werth has not been in the starting lineup, including Tuesday’s matchup with the Tigers that was eventually postponed due to rain.
According to manager Davey Johnson, Werth came in early Wednesday to have his hamstring looked at by team trainer Lee Kuntz and it was discovered he had a pull. This comes a day after Johnson said they believed Werth’s hamstring was not pulled and just sore.
“He’s still got some tightness and still got a little, he said it looked like a little pull or something in there,” he said. “Definitely, with the rain and stuff he’s not going to be in the lineup.”
