Bryce Harper is progressing in his recovery from left knee bursitis and is aiming for a rehab assignment Tuesday with the Single-A Potomac Nationals, Davey Johnson announced on Friday.
Harper has been out since May 26 after aggravating the injury in a game against the Phillies and looks to be on track for a return next weekend when the Nats travel to New York to play the Mets.
“He’ll probably hit inside again today,” Johnson said. “He’ll be doing some outside activities, he’ll be doing some outfield stuff maybe outside. He’ll probably work with us through Monday, baseball stuff before he’ll be ready to go out.”
Harper will likely play several games with the P-Nats who are home in Woodbridge, Va. through Thursday. Johnson does not expect him to be on any sort of progression as far as playing three innings one night and working his way up from there.
