Baseball in the District – Nats prospect Taylor Hill

Aug 22, 2014, 11:38 AM EST

This week’s episode of ‘Baseball in the District’ featured a lot of positives to talk about regarding the Nationals. After all, they are in the middle of a 10-game winning streak, tied for their best stretch since the franchise moved to Washington.

This week Tim Murray of ESPN 980 and I welcomed in two guests: Nationals prospect Taylor Hill of the Syracuse Chiefs and editor and columnist Matthew Leach.

Hill talked about his season at Syracuse and looked ahead to September call-ups. He also had a great story about his first call-up back in June before he made his MLB debut.

Leach focuses on the NL East at, so he had great insight on the Nationals and the Braves, as well as whether the Nats are equipped to win a World Series this season.

You can also listen to the show on ESPN 980’s website or download it on iTunes.

For a second I thought the title of this segment was “RIP Taylor Hill.” Whew!

Me too! I was very sad until I looked more closely.

    Totally off topic:

I went to the only game (of the last six) that was not a walk-off. Oh well.

But the good news (seriously): I was very surprised at the quality of the free tote bag. Decently rugged canvas. Pretty classy for a give-away, imho.

      Totally agree. A nice surprise.

And that non-walkoff was a welcome relief. And a fantastic outing for Stras.

I’d never seen a walk off in person before this year and now I’ve seen two. I did see a hit-for-the-cycle in person but I prefer the walk offs. Every walk off win is a total team effort for these guys.

as opposed to the POS they gave away last year.

Hey, is today a tee shirt day? I think it is! And I don’t even have a car to wash!

It is. I’m going, with my wife and kids. Looking forward to another Nats shirt (or two, if my wife can’t get one that is small enough).
