Podcast: Baseball in The District – Mark Zuckerman talks Opening Day

Apr 1, 2014, 4:16 PM EST

After a wild and crazy Opening Day for the Nationals, Tim Murray of ESPN 980 and I took stock of Monday’s win in the latest episode of Baseball in The District. We welcomed in Mark Zuckerman to get his take on the game, as well as what Wilson Ramos and Bryce Harper’s injuries could mean moving forward.

There was lots of talk about Ramos and what the Nats will do if he does indeed miss time, as well as the seriousness of Harper’s collision. Could Harper’s situation be something to watch as well?

After Mark hung up, Tim and I looked around league at the other Opening Day games, including the standing ovation Ryan Braun received in Milwaukee.

Looks like Sandy Leon is on his way to New York to join the Nats.

Hopefully it will just be for a cup of coffee and nothing more.

        And still no news.

Is Ramos officially on DL? I hadn’t seen that specifically yet — I presume something like that has to take place to make room for Leon?

If I’m not mistaken, and I frequently am, I think Ramos has to be on the DL before Leon can even travel to meet the team. Not sure where I (think I) remember that from.

    OT but this bites:

WaPo listing Tyler Moore as the starting outfielder in AAA. Brock Peterson as 1st Baseman.

Sounds like he is Scott Hairstons possible replacement.

We’re all waitin’ for TyMo’s return!

      • Nats128 - Apr 1, 2014 at 6:47 PM

Was Hairston the only player not used on the bench yesterday?
